Choosing Your Shade Fabric: Sizing Guide
The modular frame system is infinitely scalable to your specific rig. By combining standard (20'x20'), (20'x10') or other size shade fabrics, you can effortlessly customize your coverage footprint. For example, Shade Fabric can be set from the top of the roof to the ground for full extension or adjusted for roof coverage only. You can set a roof shade and a independent side shade, retracting and extending the fabrics independently. If the Fabric is longer than the vehicle you can use the extra length to create a wrap-around effect for the front and back of the vehicle and so on...
Coverage by Vehicle Length
- 30–45+ ft RV (Class A, Large 5th Wheel, Home Trailers): For full coverage on both sides, you will need at least Two 20'x20' shade fabric (connect two together per side of vehicle). optionally one 10'x20' or 10'x10' shade for the front window, creating a shaded space for the front
- Under 30' (Class C, Mid 5th Wheel): For full coverage, you will need one 10'x20' and one 20'x10' connected together for each side of the vehicle.
- Under 20' (Class B, Travel Trailer): For full coverage, use two 20'x10' OR two 20'x20' fabrics. For one side only, use one 20'x10' OR 20'x20' panels.
- Adding Front Coverage: Regardless of your vehicle's size, simply add one extra 20'x10' or 10'x10' if you want to extend the shade over the front windshield area.
Recommended Materials
- Use Breathable HDPE Mesh: We highly recommend using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) breathable mesh or weave. This is a critical safety requirement that allows wind and rain to pass through safely while maintaining the cooling air gap.
- Colors: Contrary to popular belief the color of the fabric will not effect the radiated heat. Our system produces a Air-Gap for free air flow and the density of the fabric from 40-90%, allows more or less UV and heat to reach the vehicle. For Some the shade effects are more comfortable than the bright diffusion of light that is produced by light color fabrics that can cause eye irretation.
- Avoid Solid Tarps: Never use non-porous fabrics like standard waterproof tarps, as they will trap wind and pool heavy water.
Setup Pro Tips
- Modular Connecting: Connect your measured fabric sections side-by-side using zip ties before securing them to the main roping system. This makes the fabric much easier to handle, hoist, and perfectly position.
- Expand Your Footprint: If you have extra fabric length at the ends of your rig, pull it outward and anchor it to the ground or nearby trees to create a massive, shaded side awning room

Mix and match sizes and connect them together with zip ties for the exact shade area for your setup instead of buying one continues fabric that if replacement is needed the entire fabric will have to be replaced.
Contrary to popular belief the shade color does not effect the heat radiation and is more cosmetic, the percentage shade fabric weave from 40-90% allows more or less UV light and effects the temperature of the shaded area. In some cases the refraction of light produced by lighter color fabrics may be uncomfortable for some people.
